Handmade Gullah Sweetgrass Basket with Handle Charleston Lowcountry Woven Basket

Beautiful handmade Gullah sweetgrass basket, traditionally woven in the Lowcountry style associated with the Gullah Geechee community of coastal South Carolina.  This lovely basket features a shallow rounded form with a large graceful carrying handle and intricate coiled weaving in warm, natural shades of tan and brown. Small decorative woven knots accent the interior, giving the basket wonderful handmade character.  The open form makes it especially attractive displayed on a table, console, shelf, or kitchen island. It would also make a beautiful addition to a collection of Southern folk art, Gullah Geechee basketry, or Lowcountry décor.
